How Big Is Your ‘Why?’

Most of us enter the wonderful world of network marketing or internet marketing, out of a thirst for more. Whether that be a desire for more money, more freedom, more time to spend with those that we care about, or simple a primal desire to do what we want, whenever we want…..to be in complete control of our own lives.

This is what drives us. What makes us do what we do. What we call our ‘why.

You might have been absolutely sick and tired of being sick and tired.  Tired of working your rear end off for your bosses gain, or you company’s gain.

Tired of not being able to spend as much time as you choose with your children. They are only young once, afterall, and you can’t get back those magic moments….those first crawls, first words, first pee in the potty.

You simply can’t get them back, ever!

That in itself should be enough to drive anyone on to become a successful entrepreneur. Trust me, as a parent of four, you don’t want to miss this stuff…..it’s the magic that makes life worthwhile.  And you don’t get to do it over.

However that’s not what this post is about. That’s stuff is a given. It’s inside of us.

Thinking Bigger about your ‘Why’

What I did start writing this piece for though, is because I want to challenge you to think bigger about your ‘why.‘  As the longer I’ve spent in this industry, surrounded by amazing people that want more for themselves and their families, the bigger my ‘why’ has become.

You see, as well as being driven by an innate desire to be the best that I can be, and lead the most fruitful, rewarding life imaginable, I’m also of the belief that we, as the inspired, big thinking, creative entrepreneurs that we are, have a much bigger role to play in the human story that continues to unfold around us.

The Old Ways are Dead

Look where we are right now. We’re at a critical crossroads in human evolution, especially in the developed world.  More than that though, we’re also at a critical juncture in the evolution of our planet and how we will continue to co-exist on it. We’ve come through the industrial age and now find ourselves in the early stages of the information age, the technological age.  Gone are the days of the factories, the mills and the production lines. There simply isn’t the need for ‘workers’ as there once was. The jobs just don’t exist any more, it’s time for a new way of doing things.

The Rise of The Individual | R.I.P. the Corporation

That is no bad thing either. Just look at the state of the western world, thanks to the corporate greed that has run rampant over the last few decades. The win at all costs mentality, where the bottom line is more important than the welfare of fellow human beings or the planet itself. You’ve seen the movie Avatar right?  And no, I ain’t no tree hugging hippy dude either. I’m a realist, and you have to be walking around with your eyes closed not to see it.  How absolutely stupid do we have to be, not to give a crap about the very thing that sustains us?  It’s pretty simple really…..the next time you breath in, just think about where the oxygen in that gulp of air came from.

Seriously, enough already.  It’s time for us to wake up.  It’s time for us, the empowered, enlightened individuals to take the control away from the greedy few that have been controlling the masses like puppets for far too long.

It’s time for us to stop buying into the ‘you must work your asses off for forty plus years of your life, pay your taxes and the interest on your personal debt (and your country’s debt) programming,’ so that the uber-wealthy elite can continue to prosper at our expense.

And besides, look at the global economic mess that this has gotten us into.  I’ll resist the temptation to go down the ‘conspiracy’ route here, as there are many who believe that, that’s all part of the plan anyway.  For the ‘easier’ to digest conspiracy, just get yourself a copy of Robert kiyosaki’s ‘Conspiracy of The Rich.’  More on financial education over here.

Movement for Change

Anyway, this is turning into a bit of a rant, whereas what it was supposed to be was a shout out to my fellow inspired home based entrepreneurs, to think beyond your initial why, and to know that you are a part of something bigger.

We are a movement for change, and we need to lead the way.  So shine your light as brightly as you can, but make sure you shine it with the knowledge that you are helping to shape all of our futures when you do so, and we do it together. Afterall, wasn’t it Napolean Hill that said….’when two or more agree on a common purpose, anything is possible.’

What’s the alternative?

    Hi Lee,

Hey love your blog header! Awesome. Life is certainly an adventure and network marketing is a great way to make it more of an adventure but you are spot on when you say that you must know why you are doing it. The bigger your ‘why’ the greater your chances of being successful.

    Great post!
