It’s a question that’s been haunting me for a little while now, since I recently started to re-read Tim Ferriss’ The 4-Hour Work Week.
I’ll repeat it…
What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?
Can you imagine?
No, really….can you imagine what a different place the World might be, if everyone had the capacity to believe that they couldn’t fail, at whatever it was that they did?
Scary thought?
It doesn’t matter really though does it? As it’ll never happen.
Why?
Because we’re too afraid. Too scared.
Fear holds us back. That in-built safety mechanism that’s designed to keep us alive…
from way back when we had to be fearful of natural predators that might want to eat us!
It’s kind of ironic then, that these days, it’s fear that generally stops us from truly living.
We’re so afraid of what might happen if we push ourselves a little too far out of our comfort zone, that most of us never pursue the life that we’d truly like to live…
where we’d truly feel alive…
because we are too afraid.
Afraid of what?
Failure?
What people might think?
Afraid that we’ll not be able to return to our safe little life, if it doesn’t work out?
Take myself as an example. I’ve known for three years now, since I started this part of my life’s journey, of exactly what it was that I wanted to do, what I wanted to create. But I didn’t do it.
I knew that I wanted to inspire people to ‘live their best life,’ to truly thrive. To do what excites them, what they are passionate about. However, I didn’t do it.
I got caught up in all of the bullshit that is the network marketing industry. The ‘leaders’ or so called ‘gurus’ telling me that this is what I should do. The old school folks telling me that this is the way that it’s always been done, this is what’s ‘replicable!’
Or the online ‘gurus’ saying no, don’t do that offline stuff, it doesn’t work. You have to attract people to you by adding value…portraying yourself as a leader. The problem with this is that for most people this equates to turning yourself into a supposed ‘tech wizard.’ Writing blog post after boring blog post about what god-forsaken wordpress plugin you’re supposed to use, or how to become an SEO (Search engine optimisation) or Facebook PPC (pay-per-click) advertising expert. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!
What about if the tech side of the equation bores the shit out of you!?! Then what?
Because that’s where I found myself at. Surrounded with blog post, after blog post of monotonous information.
Please don’t take offence if this is what you’ve been doing. I love you all…but it just isn’t for me!
So why?
Why did I do this?
Why did I do what I was told to do?
Because I was afraid.
Afraid to be myself and do what I ‘knew’ deep down inside all along…
I was supposed to be doing.
I was afraid to step up and lead. To play full out. To follow my passion.
Because I was scared I might fail and I was scared of what people might think.
NO MORE!
No more bull shit. No more f***ing about with crap that bores the pants off of me [and maybe you].
It’s time to put The Thrive Project out there. To share my passion for life, for adventure, for doing what excites!
What I was born to do. My purpose.
I knew from the very start that I wanted to bring people together who wanted more. More from life. Not to just pitch a particular product or opportunity. But to connect and inspire. Not because I have some huge ego and I want to be a ‘guru,’ God forbid! This transcends ego. It goes to the very core of my being, who I AM.
You see I believe we were all born to live an amazing life, to simply thrive, not just bloody survive!
So, I’ll put the question out there to you. Yes you! The person reading this!
What would YOU do if you knew you couldn’t fail?
How would you do things differently?
What would you do differently with you life?
For me, like I said….it’s The Thrive Project and striving to be the very best that I can be…
to live my greatest life…
while empowering others (maybe even yourself) to do the same.
To stop existing in that grey half life…
that hinterland of neither success or failure…
settling for JUST an OK life…a ‘good’ life.
Connect with us through The Thrive Project if you’re up for stepping up to the plate and kicking mediocrity in the arse!
And if…
like me…
you’re passionate about being able to do what you want, when you want to do it, wherever you want to do it from…..with whoever you want to do it with…
Then you should lock arms with us over at the thrive tribe.
At the very least, subscribe to our ‘thriving adventures’ newsletter…
so that maybe we can inspire you to make your start creating your own…
That’s if you aren’t doing so already, of course!
Keep striving…
Never Settle.
